Organized Event 2: Cyber Security: Protection of Computer Systems and Data from Digital Threats

In today’s modern world, technology has become an important part of our daily lives. People use computers, smartphones, and the internet for communication, education, business, entertainment, and many other activities. However, as technology continues to advance, cyber threats and online attacks are also becoming more common. Because of this, learning about cyber security is very important for everyone, especially for students and future IT professionals.

To help spread awareness and understanding about online safety, our team NEXT GEN successfully organized a webinar entitled “Cyber Security: Protection of Computer Systems and Data from Digital Threats” on April 29, 2025, through Google Meet. The webinar aimed to educate participants about the importance of cyber security and how individuals can protect themselves, their devices, and their personal information from digital threats and cybercrimes.

The webinar covered different topics related to cyber security, including common online threats such as malware, phishing, hacking, ransomware, identity theft, and unsafe browsing practices. Participants were able to learn how cybercriminals take advantage of weak passwords, suspicious links, fake websites, and unsecured online activities to steal information and access private accounts. The speaker also discussed the effects of cybercrime on individuals, businesses, schools, and organizations, making participants realize how serious online threats can be.

One of the highlights of the webinar was the discussion about practical ways to stay safe online. Participants learned the importance of creating strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, avoiding suspicious downloads, practicing secure browsing habits, and being cautious when sharing personal information online. Real-life examples and demonstrations were also presented to help participants better understand how cyber attacks happen and how they can be prevented.

As part of the organizing team, my assigned role was in documentation. My responsibilities included taking screenshots during the webinar, documenting important discussions and activities, organizing files, and helping record the overall flow of the event. Although documentation is usually done behind the scenes, I realized how important this role is because it helps preserve records of the webinar and ensures that important moments and information are properly recorded for reports and future references.

Being part of this webinar also taught me the importance of teamwork, communication, and preparation. Organizing an online event requires cooperation among all members to ensure that the program flows smoothly. Every member had an important role in making the webinar successful, and through this experience, I was able to improve my organizational skills, time management, and ability to work with a team.

One of the biggest lessons I learned from this webinar is that cyber security is everyone’s responsibility. It is not only important for IT professionals but also for ordinary internet users who use technology every day. Even simple actions like being careful when clicking links, protecting passwords, and avoiding suspicious websites can help prevent cyber attacks and protect personal information.

This webinar also inspired me to become more responsible and aware when using the internet and digital platforms. As an IT student, I realized that understanding cyber security is very important because technology continues to evolve, and cyber threats continue to grow. The knowledge shared during the webinar can help students and future professionals become more prepared in handling digital information and protecting systems from online attacks.

Overall, the webinar was a successful and meaningful learning experience for both the organizers and participants. It provided valuable information, practical knowledge, and awareness about the importance of cyber security in today’s digital world. I am grateful to our speaker, participants, and fellow organizers for making this event productive, educational, and successful. Through this experience, I gained not only knowledge about cyber security but also valuable skills in teamwork, organization, and event documentation that I can apply in future activities and projects.
